KAIPTC launches third edition of peace and security forum

This year's event will be under the theme, "Migration and Societal Resilience in a Multipolar World Order: Addressing Conflicts and Building Peace in Africa."

The Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) on Thursday (15 February) unveiled the third edition of the Kofi Annan Peace and Security Forum in Accra.

Established in 2019 to honour the memory of the former secretary general of the United Nations (UN), Kofi Annan, the forum aims to acknowledge his contributions to peacekeeping and the advancement of global peace and security.

During the launch in Accra, the Commandant of KAIPTC, Major General Richard Addo-Gyane, announced that this year’s forum will be slated for 27–28 February at the centre.

The focus will be on recognising the efforts of former African Heads of State and distinguished individuals in fostering good governance, peace and security across Africa.

Major General Addo-Gyane disclosed that notable figures such as President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the African Union High Representative for Silencing the Guns, Dr. Mohamed Ibn Chambas, will be in attendance.

The forum, expected to draw between 150 and 200 participants from Africa and beyond, aims to enhance collaboration between KAIPTC, the UN, the African Union (AU), the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), governments, Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), academia, development partners, and the private sector.

This year’s event will be under the “Migration and Societal Resilience in a Multipolar World Order: Addressing Conflicts and Building Peace in Africa”.
