Krachi West: Gunmen shoot chief in the groin

Confirming the news, DSP Kwabena Nkrumah of the Kete-Krachi division command said the faceless gunmen fled after shooting the chief at close range

The police are on a manhunt for unknown assailants who shot and injured the chief of Gyengyen Nana Quansah Kpebu II on Monday (13 June) at his residence in the Krachi West municipality, when power went off in the community.

Confirming the news, DSP Kwabena Nkrumah of the Kete-Krachi division command said the faceless gunmen fled after shooting the chief at close range.

The chief was rushed to the 37 Military Hospital for treatment.

No arrest has been made yet, according to DSP Nkrumah. He has therefore appealed to the public to help with information that could lead to the arrest of the assailants.

The assemblyman of the area, Albert Obempeh, told the GNA that there was currently tension in the area and expressed the hope that the suspect would be arrested.

Volunteer Information

The Oti regional minister, Dr. Joshua Makubu who visited the family of Nana Kpebu is calling on residents to volunteer information that will lead to the arrest of the perpetuators.

His call came at the back of a shooting incident where the chief of Gyengyen Nana Atta Kpebu II was shot by unknown person on his return entering his residence.

Speaking to the Oti regional correspondent Solomon Mensah-Ahiable, the Municipal Chief executive Hon. Emmanuel Kajal Jalula who confirmed the incident said, he was at home when he received a phone call that the chief was shot by some unknown persons.

Hon. Emmanuel Kajal Jalula indicated to Asaase news that, the police have began their investigation into the situation and appealed to residents to assist the police with information.
