Ghana is yet to secure tickets for soccer fans who will watch today’s World Cup playoff between the Black Stars and Super Eagles in Abuja, Ghana’s High Commissioner to Nigeria has said.

The first leg of the World Cup playoff ended in a goalless draw at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

Rashid Bawa told The Asaase Breakfast Show on Tuesday (29 March) that despite the delay they are hopeful of securing the tickets before the match begins.

“As we speak we have not been able to have the tickets for Ghana. Last night we had a series of meeting with FIFA officials, the match commissioner and of course Nigerian Football Federation officials and the Minister of Youth and Sports here in Nigeria that we still need our tickets as prescribed by FIFA.

“It looks like they are delaying for us, but we are patient, hopefully we will have the tickets today and we have a plan on how to roll it out to our members so that they will be able to go to the stadium to watch the match.”

Bawa added: “Usually, it is 5% of the total number of the capacity of the stadium, you know in Ghana we gave them 1,900 for their supporters and 50 for the VVIP members of their team, and so we do expect that they will do the calculations accordingly and give us the tickets …we are looking at 3,000 tickets for our members.”
