Ayawaso West Wuogon MP donates 200 dual desks to Central Gonja GES

The Nasara coordinator said, “the donation is in fulfilment of a promise Hon Lydia made to the headmaster of Mpaha D/A Primary in her latest visit to Mpaha for the final funeral rites of her aunty.”

Lydia Seyram Alhassan has donated 200 dual desks to the Central Gonja District education office. The desks are for selected schools in Mpaha and Kpabuso. Alhassan is the member of parliament (MP) for the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency in the Greater Accra Region.

Speaking on behalf of Alhassan at a ceremony to hand over the desks at Buipe on Tuesday 18 April, Alhaji Nasiru-Deen said the gesture is in fulfilment of a promise Alhassan made to the school during her visit to Mpaha. It aims at bridging the furniture gap between rural and urban schools.

Nasiru-Deen the New Patriotic Party’s Nasara coordinator for the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency. He also serves as an aide to Alhassan.

The Nasara coordinator said, “the donation is in fulfilment of a promise Hon Lydia made to the headmaster of Mpaha D/A Primary in her latest visit to Mpaha for the final funeral rites of her aunty.”

He said it is the hope of Alhassan that the furniture will be put to good use to harness the full potential of children in the two communities.

The district director of education, Veronica Tampur, thanked Alhassan for donation. She opined that the MP is a role model for many pupils, especially female students in the district, to aim high in their academic pursuits.

Tampur called for more support from well-meaning citizens of Central Gonja to support schools that need furniture in the district. This will complement the government’s efforts of meeting the furniture needs of the students.

Traditional leaders who were at the handing over ceremony thanked the MP for the support.
Dignitaries present at the ceremony include the Yapei Kusawgu Constituency chairman of the NPP, Issahaku Musah; Ibrahim Adamu, district public relations officer of Central Gonja GES and Iddrisu Lamin, assistant director of supervision at the Central Gonja GES.
