Mabia-Ghana, a health-centred non-governmental organization (NGO), has presented medical equipment to three districts of the North East Region.

The equipment, presented to the Ghana Health Service (GHS) in the three districts is to boost health service delivery.

Moses Nanang, the manager at Mabia-Ghana, in an interview with Asaase News after the donation, said the organization is working with the regional health directorate to increase access to safe abortion services in the region.

“Mabia-Ghana is working with the regional health directorate, North East, to increase access to safe abortion services. So we’ve already conducted some training for the midwives in the facilities.

“This equipment is meant to help them in their work in their various facilities to be able to provide quality health services to women and girls who will come to their facilities…” he said.

He added, “We are supporting 15 health facilities but for this particular equipment, they are meant for 13 facilities.”

The North East regional health director, Dr Abubakari Abdulai thanked MabiaGhana for their support and pledged that the equipment will serve its purpose in the various facilities.

“We are actually very happy. Obviously, these equipment are coming to support us to improve access to safe abortion care and other service delivery within the region…” he said.
