Damongo: Two fire oficers arrested for allegedly beating man to death

The incident happened on Saturday (9 December), in Damongo, when the officers, together with their accomplices, accused Nuhu of stealing their mattress

Two personnel from the Damongo fire station of the Ghana National Fire Service are currently in police custody, while others are on the run for their alleged involvement in beating a 27-year-old resident, Shirazu Nuhu, to death.

The incident happened on Saturday (9 December), in Damongo in the Savannah Region, when the officers, together with their accomplices, accused Nuhu of stealing their mattress.

Nuhu, on Wednesday (13 December), died following the brutality by the officers, leaving the town in a state of shock.

The elder brother of the deceased, Zakaria Mudasiru, told Asaase News that his brother’s death might be as a result of the assault and is demanding justice for the family.

Nuhu has since been buried in accordance with Islamic tradition. The police in Damongo have also begun investigations into the case.
