A US Federal Court has delivered a significant legal victory for Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, reducing an earlier $18 million defamation award against him to a symbolic sum of $500.
This outcome follows a successful motion for remittitur filed by Agyapong’s legal team, which argued that the original jury award was grossly excessive and unsupported by the evidence presented at trial.
After careful judicial review, the presiding judge agreed, describing the $18 million in damages as disproportionate and legally unsustainable.
The court’s decision to reduce the amount to a nominal $500 represents not only a resounding legal vindication but also a reaffirmation of Agyapong’s long-standing belief in justice, fairness, and the right to speak truth to power.
