Super Bowl 2025: Ghana’s Ekow Boye-Doe looking for second ring in a row
The Chiefs cornerback Ekow will be looking to join Samuel Asante as the only second Ghanaian to win the Super Bowl twice consecutively on Sunday.

It’s Super Bowl week, and the world’s eyes are on New Orleans to see if the Kansas City Chiefs will make history or if the Philadelphia Eagles are ready to raid on their parade.
The Chiefs and the Eagles are heading to Super Bowl LIX for a rematch. This will be the Chiefs’ third straight appearance in the game.
They won the last two and are looking for a first-ever three-peat — while the Eagles will be seeking the second championship in franchise history.
After two weeks of celebration, practice, and rest, the teams will face each other on 9 February 2024, at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.
The two met in the Super Bowl in 2023, when the Chiefs nipped the Eagles, 38-35 when cornerback Ekow Boye-Doe became the fourth Ghanaian to win the Super Bowl.
Ekow, 25 finished his rookie season with the Kansas City Chiefs by holding the Ghana flag on 11 February 2024 after the victory over the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.
With 74 tackles and 13 pass deflections, he wrote his name in the history books as the fourth Ghanaian to get the Super Bowl ring.
“Honestly, it’s tough to put into words. It’s just a feeling that I never thought was attainable. Just thinking about where I came from and my journey, it’s just a crazy feeling”- he said.
Three Ghanaian-born players have won the Super Bowl. L-R Asante Samuel twice with the New England Patriots (2004-2005), Joseph Addai with the Indianapolis Colts (2007), and Charlie Peprah with the Green Bay Packers (2011).

The Kansas City Chiefs have appeared in six Super Bowls throughout franchise history with an impressive record of 4-2.
They defeated the San Francisco 49ers in the 2024 Super Bowl in overtime to win their second championship in a row and their third in the last five years.
The Eagles have made four Super Bowl appearances, the first of which was in 1981, when they lost to the then-Oakland Raiders.
Philadelphia won its first and only Super Bowl in 2018, beating the New England Patriots in a rematch of the 2005 Super Bowl.
Who is performing at the 2025 Super Bowl halftime show?
The Super Bowl halftime show, a 12- to 15-minute musical extravaganza and one of the most coveted slots on the American music calendar, will feature Grammy-winning hip-hop artist Kendrick Lamar.
The 37-year-old Lamar, from Compton, the heart of the Los Angeles rap scene, has 17 Grammy wins and previously performed during the Super Bowl halftime show in 2022 alongside Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, and Mary J. Blige.
Past Super Bowl halftime performers include The Rolling Stones, Michael Jackson, Prince, Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney, Rihanna, and Beyoncé. Last season’s performance featured Grammy-winning artist Usher.
