Stormzy takes first lead acting role as he launches Merky Films production company

Stormzy is making his acting debut in a lead role with the launch of his Merky Films Production Company.
The British-Ghanaian rapper stars as Tenzman, a former rap star, in Big Man—his first leading acting role.
Produced by Merky Films in partnership with Apple and directed by Oscar-winner Aneil Karia, the short film drops on YouTube on 18 June 2025. Shot entirely on an iPhone 16 Pro, the project explores identity, gratitude, and reclaiming youthful energy.
“As a natural progression of his creative empire—including Merky Books and Merky FC—Stormzy describes Merky Films as “a space for powerful British stories and fresh art.”
He’s also announced plans for a drama series, a biopic, documentaries, animation, and a mockumentary under the Merky Films banner .
This launch comes amid ongoing concerns about limited opportunities for Black British filmmakers—Stormzy hopes his initiative will open doors for fresh voices in the industry.
