MG UK runner up: There is still room for improvement in Ghana’s pageantry

Speaking with Elvis Crystal on Asaase 99.5 Accra’s Rush Hour, Boatemaa said, “There is still room for improvement, and although I have heard a few things, I don’t have concrete evidence to back them up, so I can’t say much”

Miss Ghana UK 2022’s first runner up, Margherita Nana Adwoa Boatemaa, has said that although she is not familiar with the cultures of Ghana’s pageantry, there is still room for improvement.

Speaking with Elvis Crystal on Asaase 99.5 Accra’s Rush Hour, Boatemaa said, “There is still room for improvement, and although I have heard a few things, I don’t have concrete evidence to back them up, so I can’t say much.”

Boatemaa noted, however, that if given the opportunity, there is nothing she would change about Miss Ghana UK.

Lumiere Foundation

Nana Adwoa Boatemaa, the founder of the Lumiere Foundation, revealed that although sexual assault awareness is a very sensitive topic, it still needs to be addressed.

“Lumiere Foundation is my project, and Lumiere means light, and our aim is to shine light on societal issues in our community, here in Ghana and back in the UK.”

“My current project is raising awareness about sexual assault,” she said.

According to her, “When it comes to sexual abuse, it happens everywhere, and the main reason why we are trying to provide education on it is to help our community, and this is a topic that is not often spoken about.”

“So it gives predators the chance to keep doing what they are doing, which is something that saddens my heart. When it comes to harassment, oftentimes we talk about only women, but men also do get harassed. And it’s something we all need to be educated on,” she added

The Lumiere Foundation has partnered with New Crystal Hospital to give free health screenings and psychological support to anyone who has been sexually assaulted.
