Sports Ministry denies sponsoring fans for Black Stars Germany friendlies

The Ministry of Sports and Recreation has dismissed claims that it sponsored individuals to travel to Germany for the Black Stars international friendlies.

In a statement issued on 29 March 2026, the Ministry described the allegations—circulating in a viral social media video—as false and misleading.

According to the Ministry, the video showing a group of people at an airport has been wrongly interpreted. It explained that the individuals captured in the footage are not known to the Minister and were only briefly encountered during the boarding process.

The Ministry stressed that the interaction was casual and had no connection to any official arrangement or travel sponsorship.

It further clarified that the Minister travelled alone to Germany on official duty to meet the Black Stars and their technical team ahead of the friendly matches.

The statement emphasised that no public funds or corporate sponsorships were used to support fan travel for the matches.

The Ministry urged the public to disregard the claims, reaffirming its commitment to transparency, accountability and the responsible use of state resources.
