The 2001 Year Group of St. Mary’s Old Girls Association, SMOGA 2001, will host the 76th Speech and Prize Giving Day of St. Mary’s Senior High School as part of their 25th Year Anniversary celebrations.
The homecoming activities will commence on Friday, 20th February 2026, with a Holy Mass at 12:00 noon at the Martyrs of Uganda Parish, in honour of the departed sisters of the year group who did not live to witness this milestone.
The Mass will serve as a solemn moment of remembrance and thanksgiving for the journey shared over the past quarter-century.
At 3:00 pm the same day, SMOGA 2001 will commission and officially hand over its legacy project at the Home Science Block of the school.
The project involves the complete renovation and modernisation of the Clothing and Textiles Studio and associated Home Science Department offices and facilities.
The initiative reflects the year group’s commitment to strengthening educational infrastructure and supporting the continued pursuit of excellence within the institution.
The evening will feature a Games Night infused with music, fostering mentorship, camaraderie and interaction between students and alumnae.
The 76th Speech and Prize Giving Day ceremony will take place on Saturday, 21st February 2026, at 9:00 am at the school field under the theme: “Cultivating Excellence Through Digital Literacy for a Purposeful Tomorrow:
The Role of Stakeholders.” The ceremony will recognise outstanding students and staff and will be followed by a commemorative lunch on campus.
The celebrations will conclude on Sunday, 22nd February 2026, with a Thanksgiving Service at 8:00 am at the Rev. Sis Bernedette Assembly Hall on the school premises.
The anniversary activities of SMOGA 2001 formally commenced in June 2025 with the launch of the Twenty Five Year celebrations.
As part of the launch, the year group organised a Career Guidance and Mentorship Programme for students and facilitated a health screening initiative for teaching staff.
In September 2025, the group organised a fundraising event to mobilise resources toward the legacy project to be unveiled during the homecoming.
In December 2025, SMOGA 2001 hosted the school’s Feast Day celebration, the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception.
As part of the celebrations, the year group joined fellow SMOGANS to support National SMOGA in donating medical equipment and essential supplies to three children’s departments of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, contributing to donations valued at over Two Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis.
These initiatives underscore a sustained commitment to service, faith and institutional growth in the lead up to this milestone anniversary.
The SMOGA 2001 homecoming is expected to bring together alumnae, students, staff and well wishers in a celebration that honours heritage while looking confidently toward the future.
