In a major relief for thousands of tertiary students across Ghana, the Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) has announced it will begin reimbursing academic user fees for first-year students under the government’s No-Fees-Stress policy.
The initiative targets students enrolled in accredited diploma or degree programmes at public tertiary institutions for the 2024/2025 academic year.
Set to begin next month, the reimbursements are in line with policy directives from the Ministry of Education and form part of President John Dramani Mahama’s broader commitment to making higher education more accessible. The policy underscores the government’s investment in human capital as a foundation for national development.
“This step is significant for reducing financial stress and creating equal opportunities for Ghana’s youth,” said Saajida Shiraz, CEO of the SLTF.
Eligible students are advised to apply promptly via the No-Fees-Stress portal at https://nofeesstress.sltf.gov.gh. Each application will be cross-checked against admission data provided by public tertiary institutions to confirm eligibility.
The SLTF has urged all first-year students to apply early to ensure timely processing of reimbursements.
The No-Fees-Stress initiative is expected to ease the burden on Ghanaian families and promote uninterrupted academic journeys for thousands of students nationwide.
