Kennedy Agyapong/Bawumia

Kennedy Ohene Agyapong is a Ghanaian politician and businessman known for his controversial statements and actions.

He is a key figure in Ghana’s New Patriotic Party (NPP) and a former presidential aspirant.

Here are six things you probably didn’t know about him:

Politically active for the last two decades

Agyapong was born on 16 June 1960, in Assin Dompim, and has been a Member of Parliament for almost 24 years.

He was first elected a Member of Parliament in 2000 to the Assin North seat, retaining the seat in the 2004 and 2008 parliamentary elections.

In 2012, he was elected to the new seat of Assin Central and re-elected in 2016. According to him, he has been a financier of the New Patriotic Party since 1992, supporting the party in critical periods.

Agyapong was one of the leading contestants in the NPP presidential primaries. 2024 was his first attempt to lead the New Patriotic Party as a flagbearer.

Attended Adisadel

At 16, the Assin Domprem boy began school to catch up with his peers; in 1976, he was in Form 1 with 11-year-olds at Adisadel College.

In an interview with Accra-based Joy FM in 2010, Agyapong described himself as an average boy in school who pronounced milk as ‘mrik.’.

An underdog without a nickname who spent a lot of time in his secondary school days fighting off bullies.

An outspoken, no-nonsense man

He is an outspoken, “no-nonsense” politician known for his controversial statements on various issues.

Agyapong has been actively involved in Ghanaian politics for many years. He first entered Parliament in 2000 and has since been re-elected multiple times.

Wealthy man

In addition to his political career, Kennedy Agyapong is a successful businessman with interests in industries such as media, real estate, and other ventures.

He owns and operates several businesses in Ghana and has made a name for himself as a prominent figure in the country’s business community.

One of the most popular politicians of our time

Agyapong has been involved in various controversies over the years, often attracting media attention for his strong opinions and confrontational style. Despite his controversial reputation, he remains a popular and influential figure in Ghanaian politics.

Has 22 children

Kennedy Agyapong is married to Stella Wilson Agyapong and has 22 children, most of whom live in the United States.

Kennedy Agyapong’s wife has always been supportive. However, he was in a relationship with the late Stacy Offei Darko, who was also his baby mama; she had only one child for him. Some of his most well-known children are Amanda Agyapong and Ken Takyi Agyapong.

In spite of this information, it is believed that the politician has had affairs with many other women and, as a result, has had other children with them.

Some of the women have confirmed or denied the rumours, but Kennedy has openly stated that he intends to have a large family.
