In the lead-up to Ghana’s December 2020 elections, famed dancehall artiste, Samini, was one of the Ghanaian celebrities who openly endorsed President Akufo-Addo and the NPP’s ‘4more4Nana’ campaign.
Samini also composed campaign songs for Akufo-Addo and performed at New Patriotic Party rallies.
Following the declaration of the presidential results in a live television and radio broadcast by Jean Mensa, the chair of the Electoral Commission and the returning officer of presidential elections on Wednesday, Samini took to Instagram to congratulate President-elect Nana Akufo-Addo and Ghana for a successful election.
The ‘My Own’ hit-maker congratulated the governing NPP, opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC and “everybody that made it possible for the election to be successful”, saying, “this peace wouldn’t have been possible without all of you working together and putting Ghana first.
He also commended ex-president Mahama, “for also making it (the election) peaceful, making it calm.”
Samini ended his congratulatory message cautioning Ghanaians to be measured in their celebrations while urging all to “come together and help President Akufo-Addo achieve the dreams and aspirations and all the big plans that he has for the nation.”
