Diana Hamilton: I don’t earn royalties in Ghana
The “Adom” hitmaker who currently has about five albums to her credit says she only earns royalties outside Ghana
Gospel artiste Diana Hamilton says she is yet to receive royalties on her music from the Ghana Music Rights Organisation (GHAMRO).
Hamilton said she only earns royalties from outside the country.
In an interview with Kojo Mensah on the Asaase Breakfast Show Tuesday (29 June), the “Adom” hitmaker said, “My songs are done, being used, blessing people here in Ghana and I’m collecting my royalty from abroad, I barely get anything from here [Ghana].”

Gospel artists Cwesi Oteng and Akesse Brempong have also lamented over their inability to access royalties from GHAMRO.
Akesse Brempong last year revealed he had never received any money in terms of royalties from GHAMRO since joining the organisation five years ago.
GHAMRO was established under Section 49 of the Copyright Law of 2005.
The body is mandated with the collection and distribution of royalties on behalf of authors, composers and other rightsholders.
Artiste of the Year
Meanwhile, Diana Hamilton was on Saturday crowned the Artiste of the Year at the 2021 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).
Hamilton won after beating off fierce competition from Sarkodie, Medikal, Kidi, Kuame Eugene and Adina.
She is the first female gospel artiste to take home the ultimate award in the history of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).
She also won the Vodafone Most Popular Song of the Year, Gospel Artiste of the Year and Gospel Song of the Year awards.
In all, 30 awards were given out to deserving artists.
