On Asaase Radio’s Between Hours show with Naa Ashorkor early this year, Belinda Nana Ekua Amoah, also known as MzBel argued that Ebony is irreplaceable.

“Nobody can replace Ebony. They are all doing very well but nobody has been able to come out bold, careless like Ebony with good music like Ebony. Everybody comes with good music but they are very very careful. They come out careless but bad music,” she stated.

Family brings flowers to Ebony’s tomb

Meanwhile, parents, elder brother and some loved ones of the late Afrobeats and dancehall artiste visited her grave in the morning to mark three years of her death.

In a speech her father Opoku Kwarteng delivered at the graveyard before he laid the wreath, he recounted the purpose for the late singer’s visit to Sunyani, chatting with her that night, to the time an unknown person called him with news of her death.

“It’s today that’s her royal majesty Nana Hemaa, Ebony never returned from a journey she took. That journey was not about anything. My lady, her Royal Majesty, was going to see mom because she returned from the United Kingdom; to have one or two with her,” Kwarteng said.

“It was… late. It was about 11:47pm and I was chatting my Royal Highness, that she was coming the next day.

“And it was early in the morning that a call came. I don’t know where… telling me that her Royal Majesty had an accident and therefore she couldn’t survive,” he added.

Opoku Kwarteng continued that he “hoped someday soon”, the family and he “will get over her death, but the question is, when actually?”

He also added that, the family appreciates so much “the legacy she (Ebony) left for us… hence (they) acknowledge her anytime, any day; especially the day she passed on.”

Nana Kwarteng, elder brother of the late singer and Opoku Kwarteng, laid the wreath on her tomb while her mother, Beatrice Oppong and the gathering looked on.
