Manchester City forward Antoine Semenyo has become the first Ghanaian footballer to score 13 goals in a single English Premier League season, rewriting the record books and setting a new benchmark for his compatriots.
The 26-year-old striker reached the milestone on Wednesday, 11 February, 2026, when he found the net in City’s league encounter against Fulham, moving past the previous record of 12 goals.
That long-standing tally was set by Tony Yeboah during his memorable spells with Leeds United in the 1994/95 and 1995/96 seasons. The record was later equalled by Andre Ayew at Swansea City in the 2015/16 campaign, but neither player managed to exceed it.
Semenyo had come close to history in the 2024/25 season after registering 11 league goals. This term, however, he has gone a step further, establishing himself as the most prolific Ghanaian in a single Premier League campaign.
Since making the leap from the Championship and sealing a move to Manchester City during the winter transfer window, Semenyo has adapted swiftly to life at the summit of English football. His blend of pace, physical strength, and sharp finishing has made him an important figure in Pep Guardiola’s attacking setup.
