Security detail at Electoral Commission chair’s Labone residence withdrawn
A vendor operating near the residence of the head of the Electoral Commission told Asaase News that the last time she saw the security personnel on duty was on Wednesday 25 June

The security detail stationed at the private Accra residence of the chair of the Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC), Jean Mensa, in Labone has reportedly been withdrawn.
Asaase News has confirmed that police personnel who had been assigned to provide 24-hour protection at Mrs Mensa’s residence were recalled last week without any official explanation.
A vendor operating near the residence told Asaase News that the last time she saw the security personnel on duty was on Wednesday 25 June 2025. According to her, their absence since then has raised questions among residents and passers-by.
Currently, there is no visible police presence at the residence, leaving the compound without its usual security detail. The once heavily guarded entrance now appears quiet, with no officers stationed at the gate or patrolling the area.
Jean Mensa was appointed as the chair of the Electoral Commission in 2018 and has since played a pivotal role in strengthening Ghana’s electoral processes. Under her leadership, the commission has successfully organised two general elections and several by-elections.
