In a post on LinkedIn announcing her appointment, CWEIC said it was excited to welcome Ms Cohen to the topmost role on the council

Samantha Cohen CVO, OBE, the former assistant private secretary to Queen Elizabeth II, has been appointed as the chief executive of the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council (CWEIC), a not-for-profit membership organisation with a remit from Commonwealth heads of government to promote trade, investment and the role of the private sector across the 54 member countries of the organisation.

In a post on LinkedIn announcing her appointment, CWEIC said it was excited to welcome Ms Cohen to the topmost role on the Council. CWEIC further stated that it believes Ms Cohen’s three decades-plus of experience will be invaluable in supporting the Council’s vision and mission.

“We are pleased to welcome Samantha Cohen CVO, OBE as she joins CWEIC as chief executive. Sam brings over 30 years of experience advising senior leaders across the public and private sectors. Most recently, she served as chief of staff to the global CEO of Rio Tinto.

“Prior to that, she held senior roles within the Royal Household for more than 17 years, including as a private secretary to Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Sam grew up in Australia and worked for the Australian Federal Government before moving to the UK,” the CWEIC post said.

“Her leadership, institutional insight and global perspective will be key as CWEIC enters its next phase of strategic growth and international engagement. We are delighted to have her on board. Please join us in extending a warm welcome,” the LinkedIn post further said.

CWEIC

CWEIC’s network includes roughly 100 business and government strategic partners (or members) across 30 countries and territories. They include Standard Chartered, Zenith Bank, Trade & Investment Queensland and the Government of the Maldives.

Every two years, CWEIC hosts the Commonwealth Business Forum in association with the host country of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).
