The Member of Parliament for Ketu North welcomed Sam Dzata George, Minister for Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovation, to the Amissah-Arthur Learning Centre in Ohawu as part of the Minister’s Volta Region working tour.
The purpose of the visit was to assess the progress of the ongoing Girls in ICT training programme, which has had impressive participation from over 60 young girls representing the Ketu North constituency.
In his remarks, Sam George reiterated the Ministry’s unwavering commitment to youth empowerment through forward-looking digital policies.
He commended the initiative and described H.E. John Dramani Mahama as the “ICT Champion”, highlighting the former president’s dedication to expanding access to ICT education for all Ghanaians, irrespective of location.
The Ketu North MP seized the opportunity to call for additional support to strengthen ongoing efforts in the constituency aimed at promoting computer literacy and digital inclusion.
He lauded the innovation and creativity demonstrated by the participants, many of whom showcased basic software programs they had developed as part of their training.
“Their innovation is proof of what our youth can achieve when given the right tools and opportunity,” he stated.
Gratitude was extended to Volta Regional Minister James Gunu, GIFEC Administrator Tanko Rashid-Computer, Francisca Adjei, and the dedicated team from GIFEC for their unwavering support in making the programme a success.
