Youth group supports adolescent girls through “Sanitary Pads Bank”

An Accra-based NGO, Rhema Kairos Foundation, donated 750 packs of sanitary pads to stock the pad bank on 9 April

The “Sanitary Pads Bank” initiative established by the Kpando Dzewoe Youth Foundation and commissioned on 9 April has supported, at least, 47 vulnerable girls with pads this month.

Kpando Dzewoe is in the Kpando Municipality of the Volta Region.

The initiative was conceived by the newly installed warlord of the community, Togbui Dzablu IV, with support from concerned members of the community.

An Accra-based non-governmental organisation, Rhema Kairos Foundation, donated 750 packs of sanitary pads to stock the pad bank on 9 April.

The leader of the foundation, Bishop Victor Goldsmith, stated that the warlord reached out to him and “we thought it’s a positive and godly assignment. So, the foundation, through our partners both in Ghana and in Canada procured some 750 pieces of sanitary pads to help start the bank.”

Togbui Dzablu said he does not expect the bank to run out of pads because the girls will need them every month. He appealed to the general public and philanthropists to support the initiative.

The youth of the community visited the Kpando Dzewoe M/A Basic School on Tuesday 25 April. They held a brief meeting with the teachers and parents on how to improve teaching and learning in the school.Youth group supports adolescent girls through “Sanitary Pads Bank”

They donated school bags, pencils, water bottles, play items and other teaching and learning materials to the children in KG1 and KG2.

The youth also presented a citation to one of the teachers, Gershon Dzandu, for his commitment and dedication to duty. This was aimed at motivating other staff to give their best.
