Don’t talk down the cedi, Akufo-Addo urges Ghanaians

President Akufo-Addo said the government is working around the clock to get the economy back in shape

President Akufo-Addo has urged Ghanaians not to talk down on the country’s currency – the Ghana cedi.

Addressing the nation on the economy on Sunday (30 October), President Akufo-Addo said, “Money doesn’t like noise. If you talk down your currency, it will go down, if you allow others to talk down your currency it will go down.”

“All of us have a role to play in strengthening the cedi, stop speculation. Those who publish falsehood resulting in panic, the relevant state agencies will act against such person.”

He has, therefore, assured Ghanaians that the government is working around the clock to get the economy back in shape,

He said his government remains committed to implementing measures to address the perennial depreciation of the Ghana cedi against its major trading partners

“We are determined to restore stability in the economy,” President Akufo-Addo said.
