#SafeMotorway4All: Ghanaians are too obsessed with flyovers, says Kwabena Agyepong

Appearing on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Thursday (30 March) Agyepong called on engineers to come out with innovative solutions

A flagbearer hopeful of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwabena Agyei Agyepong (KAA) has said building flyovers is not cost effective in Ghana.

Appearing on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Thursday (30 March), Agyepong, an engineer himself, called on his colleagues to come out with innovative solutions in ensuring safety on Ghana’s roads.

“You should look at the utilisation, you shouldn’t do it for fancy,” Agyepong said. “There may be other interventions, I want to challenge my fellow engineers to bring different options.”

“I don’t see the reason for this obsession with flyovers. It’s very expensive and that kind of money could virtually rebuild the Accra-Kumasi road, which for me is a critical link which has not been rebuilt for so long.

“I may have strong reservations about certain things. I look at what has happened with the Tema Mpakadan railway and I don’t understand why that was built.”
