Tinubu says Nigeria won’t pay any money to kidnappers

President Bola Tinubu has directed security agencies to ensure the release of all kidnapped victims without the payment of ransom

President Bola Tinubu has directed security agencies to ensure the release of all kidnapped victims without the payment of ransom, an official has said.

Over 300 students and staff were kidnapped in Kaduna last week.

President Tinubu has directed the security agencies to ensure that all the children that the terrorists have abducted are brought back to their homes safely. The minister also said the government is closely watching the rise in cases of kidnappings and is taking proactive steps to stop the trend.

In 2018, Boko Haram terrorists kidnapped 110 schoolgirls from the Government Girls’ Science and Technical College, Dapchi, Yobe State.

In 2020 and 2021, terrorists staged mass kidnappings in Kankara, Katsina State, Kagara, Niger State, and Birnin Yauri, Kebbi State.

The terrorists have become more emboldened as Nigeria now witnesses more attacks on tertiary institutions. Students at the Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, are living in fear.
