Reshuffle: K T Hammond now Trade Minister, Bryan Acheampong for Agriculture

Stephen Asamoah-Boateng, the former director general of the State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA), becomes the new Minister of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs

President Nana Akufo-Addo has appointed the MP for Adansi Asokwa, Kwabena Tahiru (KT) Hammond, as the new Minister of Trade to replace Alan Kyerematen, who resigned from the cabinet on 6 January to pursue presidential ambitions.

The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, who announced the changes on the floor of the House on Tuesday (7 February), said Akufo-Addo had also nominated Stephen Amoah, the former chief executive officer of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), to serve as the deputy trade minister.

For the Ministry of Agriculture, the MP for Abetifi, Bryan Acheampong, replaces Owusu Afriyie Akoto, who also resigned last month to pursue presidential ambitions.

Osei Bonsu Amoah has been chosen to continue serving at the Ministry of Local Government, but now as the Minister of State.

Stephen Asamoah Boateng, the former director general of the State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA), becomes the new Minister of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs.

Others are:

  • Mohammed Amin Adam (the current deputy minister of energy) is now the Minister of State at the Ministry of Finance
  • Herbert Krapa (a current deputy trade minister) is now a deputy minister of energy.
