Pray for my victory in Election 2020, Akufo-Addo urges members of RPNGC

President Akufo-Addo beseeches the pastors and congregation of the Resurrection Power New Generation Church to pray for his victory on 7 December 2020

President Akufo-Addo has beseeched the pastors and members of the Resurrection Power New Generation Church (RPNGC) to pray for his victory in the general election set to take place on 7 December 2020.

The president made this appeal when he addressed the leadership and enthusiastic congregation of the Resurrection Power New Generation Church today (Sunday 25 October 2020).

The visit to the church, in the Bortianor/Ngleshie/Amamfrom constituency of the Greater Accra Region, was the first stop on the first day of President Akufo-Addo’s four-day working tour of the Greater Accra Region.

“Every year, and you well know, I leave Jubilee House to tour the countryside to get first-hand evidence of what is happening on the ground,” President Akufo-Addo said.

“I have toured 15 regions of the country and I am commencing a tour of the last of the 16 regions in the country, Greater Accra Region. I felt that I should start my tour with a visit to the church so I can obtain a blessing from Reverend Boakye to make my tour a successful one,” said the president, to loud cheers from the congregation.

“Just like I came here in 2016 for your prayers that secured my victory, it is the same reason why I have come back again to ask for your prayers and support ahead of the 2020 elections, so I will once again be successful in the 2020 elections,” President Akufo-Addo said.

Forward ever

President Akufo-Addo reiterated that: “What we have achieved, in the areas of education, health, employment, agriculture and all the others, represents a solid foundation we have laid in Ghana for growth and development in the country.

“I am, therefore, pleading with you that we should move forward and not backwards so that in unity we can move Ghana forward.”

Reverend Anthony Kwadwo Boakye is the senior pastor of the RPNGC, which started in 2002 with a membership of between 45 and 50 but now boasts over 80,000 members nationwide.

The Kasoa branch of the Church which the president visited has a congregation of roughly 30,000.
