Real Madrid confirms Zidane’s exit

The French trainer's exit is the latest event in what has been a disappointing season for Real Madrid, after missing out on the UEFA Champions League

Spanish giants Real Madrid have confirmed the departure of head coach Zinedine Zidane.

Real Madrid announced the decision after Zinedine Zidane informed the club of his intention to discontinue their work relationship on Tuesday. A club statement urged fans to respect Zidane’s decision.

”Real Madrid CF announces that Zinedine Zidane has decided to end his current stage as coach of our club. It is now time to respect his decision and show him our appreciation for his professionalism, dedication, and passion in all these years, and for what his figure represents for Real Madrid” the club statement read.

The statement hinted at a possible return to the club for Zidane, in the future.

”Zidane is one of the great myths of Real Madrid and his legend goes beyond what he has been as a coach and player of our club. He knows that he is at the heart of Real Madrid and that Real Madrid is and will always be his home” the statement concluded.

Zidane’s exit is the latest event in what has been a disappointing season for Real Madrid, after missing out on the UEFA Champions League, La Liga, and the Copa Del Rey.

The French man first joined Real Madrid in 2016, winning 8titles with Real Madrid, including three UEFA Champions League trophies before leaving in 2018.

He returned in March 2019 to win two more titles, including the Spanish La Liga in July 2020.
