Rainstorm displaces 100, destroys school and homes in Buoku and nearby communities
The storm tore off the roof of Buoku M/A Basic School, destroying essential materials such as computers, books, and documents

A devastating rainstorm that swept through Buoku in the Wenchi Municipality of the Bono Region on Wednesday (5 March 2025), has left over 100 people homeless.
The storm tore off the roof of Buoku M/A Basic School, destroying essential materials such as computers, books, and documents.
Additionally, 15 families lost their homes, and about seven houses collapsed due to the heavy winds.

The affected communities include Buoku, Abrefahkurom, and KooNsoah, where many displaced residents are now seeking refuge with neighbors and relatives.
Mustapha Musa, the Assembly Member for the area, alongside the NADMO Zonal Coordinator, visited the affected sites to assess the extent of the damage.
He confirmed that a full report will be submitted to the Wenchi Municipal Assembly for further action.
However, Musa highlighted that the Wenchi Municipal Directorate of NADMO is facing a shortage of relief supplies from the central government.
He appealed to charitable organisations, individuals, the Wenchi Municipal Assembly, and the Member of Parliament for Wenchi to assist those affected.
