Professor Goski Alabi, a distinguished academic, entrepreneur, and public governance advocate, has underscored the critical role of the private sector in Ghana’s development, calling for stronger collaboration between public institutions and private players to fuel national growth through innovation.

Speaking at the Ghana 100 Trailblazers Awards organised by The Business Executive on Friday, July 11, 2025, in Accra, Prof. Alabi stated that the private sector “holds the key to creativity” and must be empowered by a public sector that enables and supports innovation.

“As an entrepreneur who has been in both the public and the private sector, I can say that the private sector is the engine of growth,” she said. “The public sector needs to create the enabling environment for the private sector to thrive, create, and innovate.”

She urged both sectors to work hand-in-hand to enhance Ghana’s democratic and economic ecosystem so that citizens and institutions alike can unlock their creative potential.

“We must ensure that the enabling environment we have in a thriving democratic economy is enhanced so that the public sector players can become more creative and more innovative,” she added.

Prof. Alabi further stressed the need for a national culture that celebrates even small accomplishments and encourages innovation at all levels of society.

“When people create something, no matter how small it is, we must take pride in supporting, promoting, and projecting that achievement so it becomes an inspiration to others,” she said. “This change in our value system would encourage more people to innovate for the growth of Ghana and Africa.”

The event, which honoured trailblazers across business, governance, and public service, recognised several individuals for their outstanding contributions to national and continental development.
