“Prison builds boldness, not reform” – Agradaa

Evangelist Patricia Asiamah, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, has stated that prison fails to reform individuals and instead makes them bolder.

Speaking at her Heaven Way Champion International Ministry on 29 March 2026, Agraada shared her personal ordeal at Nsawam Female Prison, where she served eight months of a reduced sentence. She described the facility as emboldening rather than transformative.

Agradaa recounted the shock of her original 15-year sentence with hard labour, handed down on 3 July 2025, for charlatanic advertising and defrauding by false pretences.

“I believed it was the end of my life,” she said. As she left the courtroom, bloggers pressed her for a statement. “Prison does not change a person, it only increases your boldness,” she told them, adding “God forbid” to the judge’s ruling and simply asking for prayers.

Her sentence was later reduced on appeal. On 5 February 2026, the Amasaman High Court deemed the original term “excessive” and shortened it to 12 months.

Her husband, Angel Asiamah, celebrated her release in a video showing family, friends, and church members dressed in white rejoicing together.

Agradaa’s remarks have reignited debates on Ghana’s penal system, with the evangelist urging spiritual reform as a more effective path than incarceration.
