Two persons have died while another is in critical condition after a wall collapsed on them at a construction site at Atasemanso-Konkromoase in Kumasi.
The unidentified male adults were mounting a retaining wall on Monday when the huge block collapsed on them.
An emergency team from the police and fire service has ended a rescue mission as it pulled out the remains of the victims from the rubble.
“We were at the station this afternoon and just received a call that some people have been trapped by a wall that had fell. So, we just rushed in, we came to meet three people trapped. We removed them but one survived and two are yet to be sent to the mortuary,” fire officer ADO II Osei Kofi told Asaase News.
He said investigations have started into the case.
“They were just building a foundation for a wall. They were building a wall so they were just digging the foundation, and there was another wall behind them, so it was that wall that fell off them,” ADO II Osei said.
Meanwhile, the contractor has since been invited to assist police investigations.
