President Mahama sends COP Maame Tiwaa Addo-Danquah to “Siberia”
Her new role was communicated to her in a letter from the Office of the President, signed by Callistus Mahama, Secretary to the President

President John Dramani Mahama has reassigned Commissioner of Police (COP) Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah from her role as Director General in charge of Research and Planning at the Ghana Police Service to the Ministry of the Interior, where she will serve as the technical advisor to the Minister.
Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah, in a shake-up announced by the new Inspector General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yowunu, on Wednesday, 19 March 2025, was reconfirmed as the Director-General responsible for research and planning following her return to the service after serving as the Executive Director of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).
On the same day after the shake-up among senior police officers, Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah had to be reassigned to a new role. Her new role was communicated to her in a letter dated Wednesday, 19 March 2025, from the Office of the President, signed by Callistus Mahama, Secretary to the President.
“I write to formally convey the directive of His Excellency the President regarding your reassignment. In line with this directive, you are hereby reassigned from your current position to the Ministry of the Interior, where you will serve as the Technical Advisor to the honourable Minister.
“This reassignment takes immediate effect, and you are expected to liaise with the relevant authorities to ensure a smooth transition into your new role,” the President’s letter to the senior police officer read.
“His Excellency, the President recognizes and deeply appreciates your unwavering dedication, professionalism, and invaluable contributions to the nation.
“It is his firm belief that your expertise and commitment will continue to serve the country effectively in your new capacity. Kindly accept my best wishes as you assume your new responsibilities,” the letter to Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah further read.
