Power outages in parts of Accra due to gas leakage at Ghana Gas, says GRIDCo

GRIDCo says Monday's disruption in power supply at Accra and Tema is due to reported leakage at Ghana Gas

The Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) has attributed Monday’s power outage in parts of the Greater Accra and Tema Regions to gas shortage at the Takoradi enclave.

The power distributor said the shortage is due to reported leakage at Ghana Gas which has led to disruption in gas supply to some thermal generating plants in the country.

A statement issued by GRIDCo said repair works are still underway to fix the problem to ensure regular supply of power to consumers.

“A reported leakage by Ghana Gas on its processing plant at Takoradi has curtailed gas supply to a number of thermal generating plants in the country.

“GRIDCo wishes to assure its customers that it continues to engage all the players in the power sector value chain to ensure consistent power supply in the country,” the statement said.
