We are making “too much noises” over Bryan Acheampong’s comments, says security expert

His comments comes after Bryan Acheampong warned that if the NDC tries to do anything "foolish" in the next general election, the NPP will show them they have the men

Security expert Ishmael Norman has opined that Ghanaians are making “too much noises” over comments made by the Minister of Food and Agriculture, Bryan Acheampong over the weekend in Kwehu in the Eastern Region.

Norman said neither Acheampong nor the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) would like to see Ghana fail.

His comments comes after Bryan Acheampong warned that if the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) tries to do anything “foolish” in the next general election, the NPP will show them that they have the men.

“We will show NDC that we have the men if they want to do intimidate, harass us or do anything foolish during the 2024 elections.”

“It will not happen that we will hand over power to NDC. We’ll use any means for NPP to stay in power,” Acheampong said while addressing NPP supporters after a health walk in Kwahu over the weekend.

But speaking on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Tuesday (11 April) the president of the Institute for Security, Disaster and Emergency Studies said: “… I think we are making a little bit of too much noises over the speech.”

“You cannot just accuse somebody of a treasonable offence when there is no intent to actually commit a treasonable offence … so from the point of view of criminal law, when you start to accuse people of treason then you have to back it with facts.”

Norman added “… But I can tell you without a doubt that neither Bryan Acheampong nor the NPP apparatus want to see this country implode…”
