We will win five seats in the north, says PNC

The general secretary of the People’s National Convention (PNC) says the northern part of the country was the party’s stronghold

The People’s National Convention (PNC) says it will win five seats in the Northern Region in the 7 December polls.

The PNC says it will win Sisala East, Talensi, Pusiga, Bulsa South and Nadoli seats, all in northern Ghana.

Janet Asana Nabila, PNC general secretary, says the party was fully prepared for this year’s elections.

She said the northern part of the country was its stronghold and that the party was strategizing to make a big impact in the December polls, winning the presidential and a number of seats in Parliament.

Asana Nabila said the PNC was well prepared and ready for the polls with monitoring teams across the country.

“Ashanti Region which seem to be the largest region in the country, we have assigned about three national executives to Ashanti Region.”

She said the party had about 39 parliamentary candidates for this year’s elections and had assigned two polling agents to each polling station.

Meanwhile, the People’s National Convention (PNC) has promised to offer free education at all levels from kindergarten to tertiary, and increase funding and investment in the educational sector by 15% of gross domestic product (GDP).

PNC explained that although enrolment in schools increased over the last decade through various government interventions including; the free Senior High School (SHS) policy, access to education still remains a challenge.

The PNC in its Election 2020 Manifesto: “delivering prosperity to all Ghanaians,” under the sub-headline “Education,” has outlined a free education programme, which seeks to ensure 100% enrolment for all children.

The party said if voted into power on 7 December, a PNC government under David Apasera as president and Divine Ayivor as the vice-president will ensure the full operationalisation of the Free Compulsory Universal Basic Education (FCUBE) as enshrined in the 1992 Constitution.
