Techiman South election: EC furnishes NDC with pink sheets for inspection

The original pink sheets were presented in court upon request by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), which is challenging the results

The Electoral Commission (EC) has finally provided the original pink sheets on the 2020 parliamentary elections held in the Techiman South Constituency to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for inspection.

The court last week ruled that the original documents should be presented to the NDC Parliamentary Candidate, Christopher Beyere Baasongti, after requesting for them.

Meanwhile, the General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, said  there are still issues with the documents filed by the EC but did not state if the party will raise them in court.

On the part of the governing New Patriotic Party’s representative at the presentation, Richard Asamoah, he was hopeful the party’s candidate in the election Martin Agyei Mensah Korsah will still remain the MP for Techiman South after the final sitting.

In his suit filed at the Wenchi High Court, Baasongti prayed the court to compel the EC to quash its decision of declaring Korsah of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as the winner of the Techiman South parliamentary elections.

He also wants the Electoral Commission to be compelled to collate polling station results in the constituency in the presence of the representatives of the candidates as well as declare him the winner of the parliamentary poll.
