Major (rtd) Agbeko Sedziafa, the head of security in charge of operations at Osu Castle and State House during the time in office of Ghana’s first president, Dr Kwame Nkrumah, was our guest on The Asaase Breakfast Show on Tuesday (21 September).
The date 21 September has been set aside as a public holiday to remember and honour Nkrumah.
Major Sedziafa, who served Nkrumah until the February 1966 coup, touched on the repeated assassination and coup attempts against his boss, and the lingering effects on Nkrumah of the August 1962 bomb attack in Kulungugu, in the then Upper Region of Ghana, among other events of the time.
