NDC plans chaos in Ashanti to reduce NPP’s votes, says Ken Agyapong

Kennedy Agyapong says the NDC’s strategy is to trigger violence to cut the NPP’s vote share in the Ashanti Region

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is planning to create chaos in the Ashanti Region to scare away voters during the December general election, the MP for Assin Central has alleged.

Kennedy Agyapong made this claim on Sunday Night in conversation with Kojo Mensah on Asaase Radio.

“If we have our Delta boys that will protect our people to go and vote in peace we will get huge numbers. NDC’s strategy is to create violence to reduce our votes in Ashanti Region,” he declared.

Guarding the ballot

According to the maverick MP, he has had the information since April and “it’s happening live”.

He said the Delta Force was hugely effective in protecting the sanctity of the 2016 election in the Ashanti Region and securing the governing NPP huge numbers in the process.

“The Delta Force, we used them in Kumasi to protect our ballots, to protect the people.

“We used these guys to prevent violence. Is it a crime? And people that prevented this violence for us to get these huge numbers, now we can’t satisfy them,” he said.

Delta Force not armed

For Agyapong, the NPP needs the Delta Force in these elections more than ever.

“We need Delta boys today but it’s hard to find them,” he said. He said that throughout their dealings, members of the notorious vigilante group were never armed.

“They were just fabricating stories against them and all that. They were building themselves, macho men … strong guys. When you see them standing by a polling station then you become intimidated,” he said.

The business-minded MP also believes he’s got all it takes to become the president of Ghana, but the job doesn’t interest him.

“I have never thought of it. But this is how they tag me. Even [if] I want to be president I will be a president in style. I have no question about it. I can be a president in style … they have to get the message clear, that I will be a president in style if I want to be president. But, I’m not interested,” Agyapong said.
