Mahama’s 2020 campaign has collapsed, says Akufo-Addo

President Akufo-Addo says his main opponent, John Mahama, is resorting to lies because his campaign has collapsed

  • “Obviously, the reason for his false claims is because his campaign has collapsed. His campaign has landed into confusion, misrepresentation, and outright fabrications.”

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has said the campaign of the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Mahama, has hit a snag.

According to him, as a result of a collapsed campaign, Mahama is claiming to be the originator of his flagship programme of Free SHS.

Addressing a crowd at the Atomic Park in the Dome/Kwabenya Constituency that defied a heavy down pour, President Akufo-Addo said recent statements attributed to his main opponent suggest to him that the NDC has no message in the run-up to the 7 December elections.

He noted that Mahama has resorted to peddling “falsehoods and outright lies” in his bid to win the election.

“The former President, Mr. Mahama is out and about in the country making promises, however, Mahama is not a new quantity, he is an old quantity to Ghanaians because we have seen his handy works in government before. Because of this knowledge we have of him, he has decided to rely on lies such as his claim that he introduced Free SHS in Ghana,” Akufo-Addo stated.

He added: “Obviously, the reason for his false claims is because his campaign has collapsed. His campaign has landed into confusion, misrepresentation, and outright fabrications.”

MP for Dome/Kwabenya

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) MP for Dome/Kwabenya, and Minister responsible for Procurement, Adwoa Safo, in her address to the teeming crowd observed that, her constituency, recorded the single biggest number of registered voters, in the 2020 voters’ registration exercise. That is 173,000 people in all the 275 Constituencies in the country.

To this end, she urged the constituents of Dome/Kwabenya, to come out in their numbers to vote for President Akufo-Addo and for her on 7 December to secure the “four more years to do more” agenda of the NPP.
