Isaac Dasmani confirmed as MCE for Prestea Huni Valley

The new municipal chief executive won the assembly vote comfortably two weeks after nomination

Isaac Dasmani has been confirmed as the new municipal chief executive for Prestea Huni Valley in the Western Region.

In what was a mere formality, Dr Dasmani polled 39 votes out of 45 cast by the municipality’s general assembly on 19 May.

Two weeks earlier, President Akufo-Addo nominated Dr Dasmani to take up the vacant position in the municipality.

The election was followed by a statement from the Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, Hajia Alima Mahama.

The minister asked the Western Regional Minister, Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, to liaise with the Electoral Commission to ensure Dr Dasmani’s confirmation or otherwise through an election at the assembly.

Isaac Dasmani has been working as a senior lecturer in economics in the Department of Economic Studies at the University of Cape Coast, Ghana.

He takes over as municipal chief executive from Mozart Kweku Owuh, who stood down for reasons of ill-health.
