Eddie Nartey: Ghanaians are ready to explore horror movies

Eddie Nartey said he had always wanted to explore the production of horror films since Ghanaians were tired of love movies

Ghanaian actor and film producer, Eddie Nartey, has said that Ghana’s film industry players have not explored horror films.

Nartey said he thinks Ghanaian movie lovers are tired of films centred around love.

“I think horror film is a genre that we haven’t really tapped into as an industry,” he said

“Basically I didn’t say this particular one (film) I want to do a horror film. I think it’s how the story turned out to be and some things happened (in the production) which made it horrific,” the actor said on the Between Hours show with Naa Ashorkor on Wednesday (3 August).

After serving movie lovers with his last feature film ‘The New Adabraka‘, award-winning film director and seasoned actor is out with another masterpiece – That Night.

That Night’ is a horror genre that follows a group of college friends going on a holiday trip. Kukua the newest to join the group of friends touches a strange ornament in a shrine and becomes possessed. And they are to find a way to escape the fury of their possessed friend or possibly lose their lives.

Explaining why he is exploring horror movie production he said, “It is something I wanted to tap into, I have done a lot of dramas, I have done love. And I think Ghanaians are tired of love, every time love, they are used to it. I think they want horror”
