The police have arrested at least one suspect in connection with the fire that gutted the boys’ dormitory of the Nyinahin Catholic Senior High School.
The man who is said to be a labourer was arrested on Monday (11 October) after the fire incident last Friday, official sources said.
According to reports, he is alleged to have obstructed fire fighters during the incident.
Fire gutted the boys’ dormitory of Nyinahin Catholic Senior High School in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region leaving to none the belongings of continuous and final year students.
While some have suspected arson, others have said it was a revenge attack by the students on school management for refusing to let them engage in examination malpractice.
Meanwhile, a statement from the Ghana National Fire Service said at least six rooms were affected, including premises housing property belonging to the students.
