Police arrest 42 attackers at Stonebwoy’s Ashaiman concert

The suspects who are being held for various offences, attacked some of the fans with toy guns, cutlasses, knives, scissors and other offensive weapons

At least 42 suspects have been picked up at the Ashaiman to the World Concert held on 3 September 2022 at the Saka Saka Park in Ashaiman in the Greater Accra Region, an official statement said.

The suspects who are being held for various offences, attacked some of the fans with toy guns, cutlasses, knives, scissors and other offensive weapons at different locations towards the end of the concert, the police statement on Facebook added.

“Items retrieved from them include two toy pistols, 10 mobile phones, five cutlasses, five jack knives, three pair of scissors, a wig and a tablet,” the statement said.

The suspects, the statement noted, are being investigated and “will be taken through the due process of the law.”

The concert night, like previous editions, brought together local residents and visitors from around the world to experience incredible music performances at Ashaiman’s iconic Saka Saka Park. Once again, Stonebwoy hopes to shine a spotlight on the town and its people that helped shape him into the successful and creative artiste he is today.

Now in its 7th edition, the event has earned recognition as one of the most popular and largest artiste-led free music festivals in Africa that celebrates arts, culture and music in his native town Ashaiman.
