Police arrest 19 in Kasoa Dominase drug and robbery crackdown

The Central East Regional Police Command has arrested 19 suspects in connection with illicit drug and robbery activities at the Dominase Onion Market, within the Kasoa enclave of the Central Region.

The suspects were picked up on Wednesday (12 June) during a targeted operation by regional officers aimed at clamping down on growing criminal activity in the area.

A police statement signed by the head of public affairs for the region, DSP Victor Kofi Dosoo, listed the suspects as: Abubakari Ibrahim, Mohammed Awal, Shafiu Salisu, Hamza Amadu, Ali Adamu, Balhani Fuseini, Jamal Haruna, Zakari Abdulai, Abdul Aziz, Bera Kalidu, Moro Baki, Anthony Lucky, Razak Yussif, Sumani Issah, Sulley Mohammed, Abdul Salifu, Eliasu Bukari, Kamelo Muuk and Usumanu Amadu.

Substances suspected to be Indian hemp, as well as controlled pharmaceutical drugs such as Tramadol and Red, were retrieved during the swoop.

“All 19 suspects are currently in police custody, assisting the investigation, and will be put before court in due course,” the statement said.

The Regional Command has commended officers who took part in the operation and is urging the public to support efforts to curb drug abuse, robbery, and related crimes by volunteering relevant information.

“The Central East Regional Police Command entreats the public to assist in its continued efforts to clamp down on the menace of illicit drug trade, substance abuse and robbery activities in the communities in order to help maintain a safer environment,” the statement added.

The operation forms part of ongoing police efforts to rid the region of criminal networks and ensure public safety.
