PNC forms 11-member committee to review 2024 electoral setbacks

Speaking at a press conference after a National Executives Committee (NEC) meeting in Kumasi, the party’s 2024 flagbearer, Bernard Mornah, stressed the need for introspection to address the challenges that affected the party.

The People’s National Convention (PNC) has announced the formation of an 11-member committee to review key activities of the party following its disappointing performance in the 2024 general elections.

The committee will investigate preparations ahead of the party’s congress, the filing of its presidential nomination forms, the Electoral Commission’s disqualification of the party from the presidential ballot, and the court ruling that went against them prior to the elections.

Speaking at a press conference after a National Executives Committee (NEC) meeting in Kumasi, the party’s 2024 flagbearer, Bernard Mornah, stressed the need for introspection to address the challenges that affected the party.

“They [the committee] should review the activities of our party from the time we held our congress to the court issues we had after we were disqualified from the race. And let’s see why the PNC could not be represented on the ballot in 2024 and what we can do to make progress.

“The PNC openly declared support and campaigned for the NDC and so we want look at the relationship whether it is parasitic or symbiotic and so the committee will review all this and advise going forward”, Mornah stated.

He noted that while the PNC worked across various regions to support its parliamentary candidates, it was unfortunate the party could not win a single seat in any of the 276 constituencies.

The committee’s findings, he added, will shape the party’s strategies to rebuild and avoid similar setbacks in future elections.
