Plan International Ghana has donated age-appropriate furniture to ten schools in the West Mamprusi municipality of the North East region, enhancing the learning environment for students.
The donation aims to boost academic activities in the beneficiary schools, ensuring a conducive and supportive setting for students to thrive.
At Tinguri Pope John’s R/C Primary A and B, a total of 144 chairs and 72 tables were presented, marking a significant improvement in the schools’ infrastructure.
Additionally, Mimima M/A KG, Boayini M/A KG, and Sagadugu R/C KG received 72 chairs and 36 tables.
Furthermore, 17 sets of tables and chairs were donated to Diani Presby KG, Zanguwa M/A KG, Gbani R/C, Guabulga M/A KG, and Manga M/A KG to enhance teaching and learning.
This initiative demonstrates Plan International Ghana’s commitment to improving access to quality education in underserved communities.
The Northern Regional Programme Coordinator of Plan International Ghana, Kamaldeen Iddrisu Yazeed, presented the furniture at the Tinguri Pope John’s R/C KG school, stating:
“Our purpose is to strive for a just world that advances children’s rights and equality for girls. So, whatever Plan International Ghana does in the community, it is to benefit the children, the youth, and the community at large.”
He stressed, saying that “one of the major challenges has to do with inadequate age-appropriate furniture.”
“We realised that in some KGs, they have furniture, but it’s not age-appropriate. In light of this, Plan, through our programming, has procured these sets of furniture.”
“Indeed, it is 176 sets of furniture, and when I say 176 sets, this is a complete set of furniture accompanied by four chairs. So, these are 176 pieces of furniture, indirectly with 704 chairs, that will be distributed.”
The West Mamprusi Municipal Education Public Relations Officer (PRO), Abunbe Zakari, who represented the Municipal Director, expressed his gratitude for the kind gesture, adding that it will enhance academic activities.
“This donation is a testament to Plan International Ghana’s commitment to improving the quality of education in our communities,” Zakari said.
“As we all know, a conducive learning environment is essential for effective teaching and learning.”
“The furniture donated today will go a long way in enhancing the learning experience of our students, and we are truly thankful for this kind gesture.”
