PICTURES: Asantehene takes a tour of Manhyia Museum

The tour of the Manhyia Museum came after the United Kingdom returned 32 royal artefacts looted from the Asante kingdom in the late 19th century

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, made a comprehensive tour of the Manhyia Palace Museum on Wednesday (1 May).

The tour came after the United Kingdom returned 32 royal artefacts looted from Asante kingdom in the 19th century.

The royal objects were taken from the palace in Kumasi during the Anglo-Asante Wars, and most notably during the infamous Sagrenti War of 1874.

Otumfuo meticulously examined the artefacts stolen from the palace during the Sagrenti War of 1874 and recently returned from the UK and US.
