Grace Obour claims silver at David Noble Relays

Middle-distance runners Charles Frimpong and Bossman Pinkrah would compete in the men's 400m after finishing eighth and fourth in the men's 400m preliminaries

Ghanaian athletics star Grace Obour secured a silver medal in the Women’s 200m finals at the David Noble Relays held at Angelo State University in Texas, United States of America (USA), on 6 April.

Obour, representing Western Texas College, dominated her preliminary heat, clocking a time of 24.24 seconds. This placed her comfortably ahead of Da’Shrana Sims (Midwestern State University) and Cierra Wheeler (Dallas Baptist University), who finished second and third, respectively.

However, Obour’s path to gold was challenged by Cynai Christopher of Texas A&M University-Kingsville, who finished the preliminaries with the fastest time.

In the highly anticipated finals, it was a head-to-head battle between Obour and Christopher. Despite a valiant effort and a time of 24.48 seconds, Obour was unable to surpass Christopher, who clinched the gold with a time of 23.90 seconds.

The David Noble Relays also saw Ghanaian athletes Charles Frimpong and Bossman Pinkrah compete in the Men’s 400m. Both athletes qualified for the finals but were ultimately forced to withdraw.

Pinkrah, representing Angelo State University, impressed in the preliminaries, securing first place in his heat with a time of 47.93 seconds.

This positioned him strongly in fourth place overall for the Men’s 400m preliminaries. Frimpong, also representing Angelo State University, showcased his talents by finishing third in his heat with a time of 47.76 seconds, placing him eighth overall in the preliminaries.
