Hearts of Lions have appointed Bashir Hayford as the new coach to replace Salifu Fatawu.
Salifu was sacked on Thursday, December 14, 2023, on a run of three defeats in five games, without a win in 13 games and bottom of the Ghana Premier League table.Β

Salifu led Hearts of Lions to secure promotion to the Ghana Premier League for the first time since 2015.
Theyβve drawn eight and lost 5 in 13 games and lie bottom of the league table.
Bashir Hayford returns to the club after 16 years when he left for Asante Kotoko where he won the Ghana Premier League. He coached the club, in the 2006/07 season.
“The choice of coach Bash should not surprise you at all. Because he has he has seen it all when it comes to the Ghana Premier League and he has been on the terrain for a while now”. Hearts of Lions PRO Eric Adzie told Asaaseports.
“We believe he has the experience, he has the magic, what it takes to negotiate this curve that the club is on now.”
“So he stands tall among all the potential candidates that got attracted to that job.Β We believe in Coach Bash, and that really made the decision-making barriers because he has what it takes to deliver results for us as a club”= He added.
Hayfordβs first game will be against his former club, Legon Cities away from home.
